Master Vance L. Britt is the President and Master Instructor of Star Karate School, Inc. He is also one of the Senior Master Instructors of Region 8 of the World Tang Soo Do Association.

He was born in 1952 and begun his distinguished career in the martial arts at the age of 18. During his childhood, he always had an interest in the martial arts. Stating, "I wanted to learn karate because kicking and punching looked so cool!”

When he entered the Air Force in 1970, he received his first opportunity to study the martial arts. At first, he only learned defense against street fighting, but by 1974, Master' Britt's interest grew and he enrolled in his first martial art school at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware. Shortly after, he was transferred to Osan Air Base, Korea where he was introduced to Tang Soo Do. In 1975, he received his first-degree black belt under the instruction of Master Tong Moon Kim.

Master Britt was then sent to McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, where he started Starlifter Karate, a small club consisting mostly of children. By 1985, the club had grown to school size. The school moved to Wrightstown and the school was renamed Star Karate School.

Some of Master Britt's accomplishments are:

  • Sparring Champion at first-ever World Tang Soo Do Association Tournament.
  • Created winning demonstration team to include winning 1st place in 1992 Region 8   championships
  • Promoted to 4th Dan in 1987
  • Promoted to 5th Dan in 1994
  • Named Master of the Year, 1996
  • Promoted to 6th Dan in 2003
  • Special assistant to the Grand Master’s Candidate program

 


According to Master Britt, "I feel my greatest asset is my ability to work well with children. I gain such a feeling of accomplishment watching them develop into fine, young adults."
